Welcome to this website dedicated to the Bible and its understanding in the Christian tradition, without neglecting Jewish commentary that offers useful insights into the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament.

The site is organized around several themes that run throughout the Bible and which, in my opinion, are essential to its understanding. To ensure a balanced interpretation, it is necessary to link together different passages from the New and Old Testaments.

You should therefore begin your consultation of this site with an overview of the theme in general. For example, by reading the article on “The filial relationship,” which is fundamental for entering into the reading of the Bible. The Bible represents, in fact, God’s first invitation to his creatures to enter his kingdom. Entering the kingdom means accepting this invitation and entering into a filial and trusting relationship with God. This creates a bond between creatures: connected to a single source of life, to the same spirit, a fraternal bond unites the multitude of men and women.

Starting from the article that introduces the theme, numerous links give access to texts accompanied by comments from the Church Fathers who offer a Christian understanding and interpretation of the theme.

Next, you can access more extensive biblical texts with comments, both Jewish and Christian, which are more oriented towards a philological understanding, with explanations of the terms used in the original text.

The translation of the biblical texts that I propose is very literal, close to the syntax of the original language, in order to better understand the margin of interpretation of the various commentators, whether Jewish or Christian. Similarly, my translations of the texts of the commentators themselves are also literal, in order to better highlight the links between the biblical text and its interpretation.

In general, if the text is presented in its original language, the translation below is my own; if the text is not presented in its original language, this indicates that I have not translated it myself, in which case the source of the translation is indicated.

For some articles, particularly those concerning the Apocalypse, given the length of the passages studied, I will refer to the official liturgical translation of the New American Bible and indicate the source of the translations of the Church Fathers.

In summary this website offers:

1. A theme that refers to a series of biblical texts.

2. Biblical texts with comments by the Church Fathers.

3. Biblical texts with explanations of the different possible translations from the original language.

It is a reading of the seven days of Genesis as a spiritual journey from darkness to light, in parallel with the seven days of Holy Week, the stages of Jesus’ life, and the seven phrases of the Lord’s Prayer:
