Mark 14:1-11 (parallel in Matthew 26:6-16)
1 The Passover and [the feast of] unleavened [unleavened] unleavened [unleavened] bread was two days away, and the chief priests and Scripture experts were looking for ways to kill him, ensnaring him:
2 they said, “Not in the feast, that there be no clamor of crowds.
3 He [Jesus], being at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, sitting reclining [at table], a woman entered having a vessel of alabaster [containing] pure and costly perfumed oil of nard: having broken the vessel of alabaster, she poured some on his head.
4 Ἦσαν δέ τινες ἀγανακτοῦντες πρὸς ἑαυτούς, καὶ λέγοντες, Εἰς τί ἡ ἀπώλεια αὕτη τοῦ μύρου γέγονεν;
4 Now there were some who were very indignant within themselves and said, “For what has this loss of the fragrant oil come about?
5 Indeed, she could have been sold above three hundred denarii and [the sum] given to the poor. And they reproached her.
6 Then Jesus said, “Let her go: why cause grief? She has done a good deed toward me.
7 For you always have poor people around you, and when you want, you can do them good: but you don’t always have me.
8 What she had, she did: she anticipated anointing my body for burial.
9 Amen, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she did will be told in memory of her.
10 And Judas the Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray him to them.
11 These, when they heard, rejoiced and promised to give him money. And he sought how to deliver it at the proper time.
